Sugestions for winter birding in Alentejo
0 Comment
Despite the low temperatures of the winter, the weather is pleasantly sunny, and birding proves to be rewarding with some stunning species on view in the fields that surround the city of Beja.
Currently showing well in the area are mixed flocks of larks, finches and sparrows, the photo below showing the diversity within the flocks which includes Calandra Larks and Rock Sparrows.
Both Great and Little Bustards are relatively easy to see at this time of year, and small parties of Stone Curlew can be viewed, whilst both Hen and Marsh Harriers quarter the fields in search of prey items.
