It was a real pleasure for us to meet you again and to spend an exciting birding morning with you in your area. And yes we loved Evora. Also de Quinta do Cano was very good and in a nice landscape setting.

On February 28th, 2017 we made a full-day birding trip with Jorge Safara to the lagoon of S. Andre and along the coast to Vila Nova de Milfontes. Jorge is a relaxed person, a good driver and well-informed bird and nature guide.

Rob: we visited different habitats and recorded some 60 species, including 3 first sightings. As amateur bird watcher I only had a higher score twice in my life, so not bad at all.

Petrie: as I am not a very fanatic bird watcher, but a nature lover and photographer, I very much enjoyed this excursion and the time we had to walk in the lagoon and dune area.

All together we spent a great day with Jorge and certainly value for money!

We are a couple from Germany, spending a few days in Lisbon. So we decided to get some information of the birds and the nature round Lisbon. Contacting Jorge from Birdwatch in Alentejo was the best idea for it. With ferry from Cais do Sodré to Montijo we meet him in his perfect equiped car; started a-one-day trip in the area round EVOA. On this day we saw so many different species on birds, we haven´t seen without guidance. We heard a lot of pretty interesting things of the area, about rice-fields, planned airports and the birds in between. If we are going to Portugal the next time, we will met him for a few days in Alentejo for learning more about Águia-pesqueira.

An excellent guided birding trip with Jorge Safara in the Castro Verde steppe and Guadiana Valley.
Two years ago I visited the Spanish Extremadura area for a private birding tour. An exciting experience, but without guidance and lack of detailed knowledge of the area it is hard to find your way to the interesting sites and bird species.
This year we decided to spent de holiday in the Alentejo area , including some days for bird watching in the famous Castro Verde steppe area and the Guadiana Valley.
For maximum success, it had to be a guided tour. Contact with Jorge Safara, through his website, resulted in the appointment for a full day private birding trip to both areas on April 21th. At 7.00 hours we were collected from our hotel in Mertola by Jorge and his 4 wheel-drive. The start of what proved to be one of our most exciting and successful birding experiences since years. We learned to know Jorge as dedicated host and a very experienced birdwatcher with a sharp eye and good knowledge of the area. After an
exciting morning with a good number of Little - and Great bustards, with a couple of Stone Curlews, Montagu's Harriers , Booted eagle, Short toad eagle and Great Spotted Cuckoo we visited the area around the Visitors centre near Castro Verde, where European roller, Lesser Kestrel and Bee-eaters were served. This Just to mention a few examples of most exciting species for a birdwatcher from the Netherlands. For lunch Jorge had arranged a picnic at a deserted site of the steppe where a group of Black-bellied Sand grouse performed. The day could not be better anymore, until we arrived in the Guadiana river area, where my last wish, the Black-winged Kite was fulfilled with hunting- and photo shot performances of great class. Jorge delivered us in Mertola at 18.00 hours, after 11 hours guiding and a list of 60 species that made us very happy.

Thank you Jorge, you are strongly recommended!

Thank you Jorge!
A brilliant few days, finding amazing birds and exploring this beautiful untouched country.
We found every bird we had hoped for (except Black Stork... next time, maybe...) and many more we never expected.
You are a great guide - very knowledgeable and extremedy helpful.
I never would have seen so many birds if it was not for your excellent guidance.
Many thanks

What a wonderful few days these have been. I have seen more than 30 birds I never seen before, including some I had not even heard of. Your knowledge of where to find the birds and how to identify them is most impressive.
Thanks Jorge for such a great time.

Jorge,
This was the most wonderful part of my trip to Portugal. I never dreamed I would see so many different birds, from the Zitting Cisticola to the magnificent Booted Eagle and so many others. Of course my favorites were the Bee Eaters for their colors and the Storks for their amazing colonies that are homes to so many other birds. I am also so very grateful to have been shown the "inside" of this beautiful country. I'll remenber and smile standing in the cork forest and next to a huge old olive tree, with more flowers everywhere than I've ever seen before.
Thank you!

I hope more people find you and find the joy of a trip with you.
Your knowledge of this land and it's birds is excellent and you are a delightful guide.
Thank you
